Quantum of solace Opening Title Sequence :

Camera :

  • In the opening scene mostly all of the shots are close-up of James Bond's Aston Martin, the chase car and weapons. This creates a action feel to the opening.

  1. In the opening you never see the whole car , only extreme Close-up shots of different parts of the car. You never see the drive but as he is driving a Aston Martin you presume the driver is James Bond.
  2. Shot 2 is a great shot. This is the first time you see what he is running from. This is a great uses of the car.
  3. The reflection shows the position of the car that is shooting . The muzzle flash can be scene in this shoot. This is a different way of shooting this scene. compared to older bond films.

Editing :

  • The editing is very fast, This creates a high pace feel . The use of the surrounding area adds to the opening scene because you don't know the background story. Therefore you are trying to pice together each clip.

 Mise-en-scene :

  • As the gun is introduced the mood changes. This shows how powerful props can be.

Sound :

  • Through-out the opening the music is very sinister and dramatic. But the soundtrack dies down and you only hear the diegetic sound from the cars. This helps you concentrate on the action in the scene.
